Harry Kane scored a second consecutive brace as Tottenham secured a vital victory over Leicester City in their last home game of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur:

1. Hugo Lloris

The Spurs captain was needed following Son’s early strike and he certainly showed up. The Frenchman made a few sharp stops to deny Leicester’s attacking threat, most notably making a low diving save from a Ayoze Perez strike. Lloris again was ever reliable for the rest of the game, earning his clean sheet.

24. Serge Aurier

Once again, Serge Aurier deserves huge respect to his name. To play two games just days after his brother’s death shows how strong Aurier is as a person and how committed he is to his club.

4. Toby Alderweireld

The return of Toby Alderweireld into the team has certainly improved Tottenham’s defence. The Belgium centre back made some vital blocks in the first half and was consistent again in the second half.

6. Davinson Sanchez

The young Spurs centre back put in another solid performance alongside Alderweireld as Spurs kept a rare clean sheet.

33. Ben Davies

The Welsh left back has been a favourite under Jose Mourinho and Davies has continued to show his worth in the Spurs defence.

17. Moussa Sissoko

The French midfielder once again put in a consistent performance on the pitch. With full of energy, Sissoko helped Spurs keep their deserved clean sheet.

8. Harry Winks

As with Sissoko, Harry Winks put in a consistent performance in midfield. Game by game, Winks continues to mature as a player, and he appears to be nailing a place down in the starting 11 under Jose Mourinho.

18. Giovani Lo Celso

Another good standard performance by Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine appears to keep getting better under Jose Mourinho.

27. Lucas Moura

Early in the game Lucas Moura struggled having failed to track back, but he soon showed his quality as he provided assists for both Harry Kane goals.

7. Heung-Min Son

Heung-Min Son started this game very well and was unfortunate not to be credited with the opening goal. The South Korean punished the Leicester City back three and got some luck through the deflected strike. The South Korean was full of running for the rest of the game and certainly a huge threat on Leicester’s defence.

10. Harry Kane

As with Son, Harry Kane started this game very sharply and was involved in Spurs’ opener. In the build-up of the goal, the England striker in provided Son with a superb pass and this allowed Son to rush forward and score the goal. Following this, the Harry Kane of old was back with the Spurs striker hitting two fantastic goals past Leicester, earning him rightly the man of the match.

Leicester City:

1. Kasper Schmeichel

The Danish goalkeeper could not do anything with all of Spurs’ goals with the first being a deflection and the other two being superb strikes by Kane.

29. Ryan Bennett

The young full back put in an average performance for Leicester, but he was at fault with Tottenham’s third goal as he allowed Kane to cut onto his dangerous right foot.

5. Wes Morgan

The Leicester captain put in an okay performance in defence however he was let down by his teammates.

6. Jonny Evans

Jonny Evans did not have his best game at the back for Leicester, however he was not the worse player on the field.

2. James Justin

The game couldn’t have started any worse for James Justin. The young full back who was brought in for the injured Ricardo Pierria was unfortunate to be in the way on Son’s shot as his touch deflected the shot away from Schmeichel into the back of the net. Justin did recover from this, but he didn’t really affect the game as he would have liked.

25. Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester’s ever reliable midfielder struggled massively against Tottenham. Time and time again, Spurs would easily be able to counterattack on Leicester with Ndidi nowhere to be seen in central midfield.

8. Youri Tielemans

Youri Tielemans was very uninvolved against Tottenham. The young Belgium midfielder who has been excellent for Leicester all season did not show his quality today and was rightly substituted.

56. Luke Thomas

As with Tielemans, the young man was not affective in midfield for Leicester. Maddison was certainly a huge miss for Leicester as their creativity was lacking for majority of the game.

17. Ayoze Perez

Ayoze Perez was unfortunate not to score in this game. On two occasions, the Spanish winger found space to unleash a strike on goal, but Hugo Lloris was on inspired form to keep both efforts out.

15. Harvey Barnes

Harvey Barnes has had a great season for Leicester, however he struggled greatly in this game. The young English midfielder failed to step up quickly during a Spurs break and this allowed Kane to stay onside and slide the ball home.

9. Jamie Vary

Jamie Vardy, as ever, was Leicester’s most dangerous player. If it wasn’t for last ditch challenges by the Spurs backline, Vardy certainly would have scored. Vardy was very ineffective in the second half.

What’s next?

The 2019/20 Premier League season finally reaches its conclusion next week as teams play their last games of the season. On Sunday, Tottenham travel across London to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, while Leicester return home to face Manchester United.
